Milling machines
The image to the right shows a vertical milling machine. An end mill will be located into the spindle and a workpiece will be fixed on the table. Machining is carried out by rotating the spindle and feeding the table past the tool.
Machining centre
The image to the right shows a vertical machining centre. The table and the spindle are operated by NC. The vertical machining centre has ATC and an index head* and machine mainly box-like parts.
Multi-task machining centre
Multi-task machining centres are machines that combine a variety of machining methods in one machine. This type of machine offers high machining efficiency and is now becoming commonplace in workshops. It offers the following advantages:
- Consolidating processes
- Shortening preparatory time
- High accuracy due to one chucking
The image to the right shows a multi-task machining centre with ATC. It is a machine tool whose basic structure is a lathe.
