SRF inserts with a chipbreaker added to the MS9025 grade for high precision machining and small parts

The MS9025 PVD coated carbide grade used in the MS series demonstrates excellent performance during turning of high precision and small parts that require extreme levels of productivity and precise tolerances. It has received excellent reviews from customers, especially those who use small automatic lathes.

Mitsubishi Materials is pleased to announce the addition of SRF chipbreaker-type inserts to the MS9025 grade, which provides excellent wear and fracture resistance when machining stainless steel.

Main features of the new SRF chipbreaker inserts.

  1.  MS9025 has excellent chipping resistance due to the extreme toughness of the base material and its high thermal conductivity due to the coarse-grain WC which suppresses heat at the cutting edge. It is also effective at suppressing notch wear.

  2.  The SRF chipbreaker is a gash type chipbreaker for finishing. It uses a sharp major cutting edge without honing to prevent chip adhesion and narrow chipbreaker valleys to effectively roll and expel the chips.
