The WSF406W achieves high quality surface finishes and greater productivity due to its low cutting resistance properties. Conventional cast iron cutters, with strong cutting edges such as negative insert types, have been used to prevent cutting edge workpiece chipping, but large cast iron material components such as engine cylinder blocks and machine tool beds require high productivity levels as well as excellent quality finished surfaces. The WSF406W cutter suppresses deformation of the workpiece material because the low cutting resistance reduces the heat created during machining. The reduction of heat allows for stable machining and is further complemented by the accuracy created by the run-out adjustment system.
1. MITSUBISHI MATERIALS’ proprietary “Double Sided, Z Geometry” insert combines the features of conventional positive and negative rake inserts to achieve low resistance and sharpness despite being a double-sided, negative insert.
2. The M-class insert has high precision properties with an excellent cost performance ratio. Cutting edge adjustments of 0.01mm or less are possible which helps to achieve surface finishes of Ra 1.6μm or better over a wider range of depth of cut and feed.
3. Due to the C-shaped insert corner, the edge of the workpiece material has extra thickness that provides greater strength, thereby reducing the occurrence of cracks in the edge of the workpiece material where the cutter exits.
