MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION Metalworking solutions company (Company President: Shinichi Nakamura: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has added CBN inserts for cast iron machining to the FMAX series of high efficiency, finish milling cutters.

 

FMAX series cutters feature a lightweight, high rigidity body, with an extra fine pitch design that dramatically improves the efficiency when machining non-ferrous metals such as aluminium alloy. The addition of the new CBN inserts enables cast iron machining and expands the range of applications for FMAX.

Main features of the CBN inserts for cast iron machining with FMAX face milling cutters

1.Tool management is easy and economical due to the disposable type CBN insert.

2.Reducing the length of wiper edge suppresses cutting resistance and achieves a high-quality surface finish.

3.Fine-grained CBN particles deliver excellent cutting edge toughness and high fracture resistance.

4.Suppresses fracture, chipping and thermal cracking of inserts not only in dry cutting but also when machining where coolant remains from the pre-process.
