MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION, Metalworking Solutions Company (President: Kazuo Ohara, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has expanded the range of honing types used. This has created 67 new items that have been added to the BC8200 series of CBN grades for machining high-hardness steels. They will be released on January 6^th, 2025.

During turning of hard steel, the suitable honing type depends on the machining conditions. As machine performance continues to evolve, demand has arisen for types of honing that were not recommended under conventional machining conditions.

The new honing variants have been added to the BC8200 series of CBN grades for hard steel turning expands the range of machining applications that can now be performed.

Main features of the honing expansion of the BC8020 series of CBN grades

1.  Addition of a honing geometry that can be used even under high-efficiency, high-load machining conditions therefore enabling stable machining.
