Turning

Addition to the coated CBN grade BC8220 of a BL Chipbreaker for machining high hardness materials at light and medium depths of cut.

MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION, Metalworking Solutions Company (President: Kazuo Ohara, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has added the BL breaker to the coated CBN grade BC8220 for high-hardness steel turning. Sales start from November 1st.

When turning high-hardness steels, crater wear tends to progress during machining. Additionally, chipping and fracture may occur due to impact. The coated CBN grade BC8220 for machining high-hardness steels achieves a long and stable tool life.

The new BL chipbreaker enables good chip control during light and medium depth of cut machining.

Main features of the BL chipbreaker for the coated CBN grade BC8220

  1. Good chip control is achieved when the depth of cut is between 0.2mm and 0.6mm.

  2. The synergy of the two-stage rake angle and the dedicated honing realizes a low-resistance form and suppresses chatter.

  3. The chip is curled by the breaker walls thereby creating a stable chip discharge.
