MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION, Metalworking Solutions Company (President: Kazuo Ohara, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will start to sell the new CBN grades MB8210 and MB8220 for turning high-hardness steels from July 16^th, 2024.

When turning high-hardness steels, crater wear tends to progress during machining, and chipping and fracturing may occur due to impact. The new CBN grades MB8210 and MB8220 use a heat-resistant binder that improves heat resistance and suppresses the progress of crater wear. The ultrafine-grain binder also suppresses cracking and provides a long tool life with stable machining performance.

Main features of the MB8210 and MB8220 CBN grades

1. Use of a heat-resistant binder also reduces the progress of crater wear.
    
2. By dispersing an "ultrafine binder" and fine CBN particles in the CBN base material, the development of cracks are suppressed and sudden fracture during cutting is prevented.
