MT2015 and MS7025 grades added to the range of grooving inserts for high precision and small parts machining

MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION, Metalworking Solutions Company (Company President: Kazuo Ohara, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has added 68 items of the uncoated carbide grade MT2015 and the PVD coated grade MS7025 to the range of external grooving inserts.

Due to the downsizing of components in recent years, demand for high precision and small parts machining has increased. For example, E-ring grooving requires a high level of groove width precision, and O-ring machining requires an extremely smooth surface finish.

MITSUBISHI MATERIALS will add the MS7025 grade, suitable for stainless steel machining. Additionally, the MT2015 grade is added that is suitable for shallow groove, precision machining of Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum alloys and small components. These new grades significantly expand the range of grooving applications that are possible.

Main features of the grooving inserts in grades MT2015 and MS7025

  1. Addition of new types of edge preparation supports a wider variety of grooving applications.

  2. MS7025 drastically improves adhesion of the coating and therefore wear resistance by controlling the high lubrication layer, and this also improves the layer that suppresses wear at a nano-level.

  3. MT2015, offers a range of sharp edges that achieves stable machining by demonstrating excellent resistance to chip welding during machining of Non-ferrous metals such as aluminum alloys.
