MITSUBISHI MATERIALS CORPORATION Metalworking Solutions Company (Company President: Tetsuya Tanaka, Address: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has released an additional 48 items of the DSA series of solid carbide drills for machining heat resistant alloys. They will go on sale from March 15th.
The DSA series of drills for machining heat resistant alloys were originally released in 2019. Their cemented carbide base material reduces cutting heat and prevents the work hardening usually associated when machining heat resistant alloys. In addition, they achieve long tool life and provide improved hole accuracy.
Due to the popularity of the DSAS through coolant type, 48 items with diameters from 3mm to 12 mm have been released. The DSA range also includes the external coolant type, DSAE.
1. DSAS driils with diameters over 5mm have a unique coolant hole geometry that increases the amount of coolant discharged without reducing the rigidity of the drill, thus improving lubricity and cooling performance. (Diameters from 3 mm to 5 mm have round through coolant holes.)
2. An optimized honing and a sturdy, straight cutting edge allow for stable chip generation and a decrease in chipping when machining ultra-heat resistant alloys.
3. Special margins are designed to minimize the contact area and to reduce cutting heat and work hardening when machining ultra-heat resistant alloys.
4. The new PVD coated carbide grade DP9020 improves wear resistance by increasing hardness while maintaining toughness.
