New PVD Coated Carbide Grade MP9140 for machining Difficult-to-cut Materials

Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Metalworking Solutions Company (President – Shinichi Nakamura, Headquarters: Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has released MP9140, a PVD coated carbide grade for machining difficult-to-cut materials.

MP9140, a PVD coated carbide grade is optimum choice for rough machining heat resistant alloys and titanium due to improved welding resistance. In addition, the heat and fracture resistance properties have also been optimised for reliability and process security.

To also allow a wider range of milling applications, several new items have now been added as an indexable insert grade for the AJX series, a high feed radius type milling cutter.

Features of the MP9140, a PVD coated carbide grade for machining difficult-to-cut materials.

1. The smoother surface provides increased welding resistance when compared to conventional grades.

2. The high Al-rich (Al,Ti)N single layer coating dramatically improves wear and heat resistance.

3. Improved fracture resistance from the special cemented carbide substrate also provides improved crack propagation resistance.
