Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Advanced Materials & Tools Company (President - Shinichi Nakamura, Headquarters: Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku,Tokyo) has launched iMX-B4S, a new 4 flute ball nose end mill with irregular helix flutes for the iMX series of exchangeable head end mills.

The iMX series has received a favourable reception in the market place as a revolutionary end mill system that provides excellent economy and enables efficiency, high accuracy and rigidity by combining the advantages of both solid carbide and indexable end mills. Overall rigidity close to that of solid type end mills is realised because the clamping faces of the holder and head are both manufactured from carbide. The iMX end mill series has been further expanded to include iMX-B4S, a 4 flute ball nose end mill with irregular helix flutes to allow a wider range of applications.

Features of the iMX-B4S

1. High efficiency machining is realized even when cutting using the only the tip.

2. The low helix flue is suitable for finishing.

3. Newly developed EP8110 grade is ideal for machining hardened materials because of the combination of the ultra micro-particle carbide substrate with excellent wear resistance, and the coating with superior oxidation resistance and high lubricity.
