Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Advanced Materials & Tools Company (President - Shinichi Nakamura, Headquarters: Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) has launched new smaller diameters for the MFE series of solid carbide flat bottom drills for counter boring.
The MFE drill is designed to provide flat bottom holes and achieves high efficiency drilling over various applications such as angled and spherical surfaces. It is also ideal for thin plate machining and due to its excellent chipping resistance it can reduce overall machining times.
To complement the existing drills, the range has been expanded to include smaller sizes that are especially suitable for small automatic lathes.
1. The ideal chip shape is formed by the radius edge geometry and the centre chip pocket, thereby dramatically reducing cutting resistance.
2. A combination of different radii in the cutting edge geometry provides strength and excellent chip control.
3. A gashed land (0 degree rake) provides excellent chipping resistance.
4. The new PVD coated carbide grade DP102A dramatically improves wear resistance when drilling small diameter holes at low speeds and feeds.
